Hello and welcome to another weekend of the Banana Meter! For those not aware of how this works, let me explain it to you. First, our critics check out a film. Then, they rate it on our scale of 0-100%, we gather the percentage from all of your critics and that’s how we get our rating on the Banana Meter.
What is the Banana Meter scale, you ask?
When a film hits above 85% or higher from our critics, it means it hit Bonafide Bananas status.
When a film hits between 55-84% or higher from our critics, it means it hit Ripe status.
When the film hits under 55%, it means it hit Sour Status.
Our next film to hit the Banana Meter is Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Here is what our Ripe Banana Critics are saying about the film:

Banana Meter Rating: 90%
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 lives up to what the first film started. An action packed adventure that brings not only Tails, but also Knuckles too. The voice acting is phenomenal and each actor played their character to perfection. The chemistry between them was amazing.

Banana Meter Rating: 70%
If you liked the first, I can’t really think of a reason why you won’t like this one.

Banana Meter Rating: 65%
Good family fun which will also keep the Sonic gamers happy. It follows the high speed trajectory of the computer games with Sonic having a puzzle to follow and a maze to explore to collect the coins or the ultimate treasure, in this case! Has cringey lines but embraces true friendships and Jim Carrey with a twirly moustache!
George Clark
Banana Meter Rating: 67%
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a great improvement on the first film, delivering on what a video game adaptation should be, a celebration of what makes the game series worth remembering after all these years. While it’s let down by a few bad choices and some awful jokes, it makes up for it with its sincere portrayals of friendship and three loveable characters that you truly care for by its conclusion.
Freda Cooper
Banana Meter Rating: 60%
With the entire gang returning, including the director and writer, their “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” approach means that they play it very safe. Sonic 2 isn’t exactly super, but there are times when it comes close to capturing the vibrancy of the first one. And, while Sonic’s name is in the title, the real star is Knuckles!
Neil Vagg
Banana Meter Rating: 70%
Speeding beyond the first movie it’s packed with even more laughs and action. Jim Carrey is twice as diabolical and I’m here for it! A huge crowd pleaser for all the family.
Craig McKenzie
Banana Meter Rating: 60%
A fun blockbuster with strong vocal performances, entertaining set pieces and an impressive command of fan service
Ryan Wardak
Banana Meter Rating: 70%
While retaining the same cast from the first, Jim Carrey shines as Eggman in this film as such with the first. But, with a new movie comes new characters. The sequels introduces fan favorite video game characters Tails and Knuckles. While I enjoyed the first, I feel the same towards this sequel. This film has much more fun on a much grander scale, while leaving in the dust the human characters.

Banana Meter Rating: 90%
Sonic 2 is one of the best video game adapatations and elevates all the good from the first film. A great family film full of intense action and hysterical antics from the entire cast.

Banana Meter Rating: 80%
Its action-packed fun for the whole family that, while not taking itself too seriously, fully respects its source material and leaves us with a telling end credit scene, which sets up the inevitable third part in this series. Not a classic by any means but for 2 hours, simply suspend your grownup critical eye and enjoy the ride
