Hello and welcome to another weekend of the Banana Meter! For those not aware of how this works, let me explain it to you. First, our critics check out a film. Then, they rate it on our scale of 0-100%, we gather the percentage from all of your critics and that’s how we get our rating on the Banana Meter.
What is the Banana Meter scale, you ask?
When a film hits above 85% or higher from our critics, it means it hit Bonafide Bananas status.
When a film hits between 55-84% or higher from our critics, it means it hit Ripe status.
When the film hits under 55%, it means it hit Sour Status.
Our next film to hit the Banana Meter is Morbius
Here is what our Ripe Banana Critics are saying about the film:

There are no stakes, some scenes are pointless but the VFX and horror elements are good. Contrary to popular opinion, Morbius is definitely not the worst CBM ever made.
Hector Gonzalez
Banana Meter Rating: 30%
After multiple delays, Morbius, the “highly anticipated” new entry into Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, arrives with some of the worst world-building we have seen in a long time. This is the most precise definition of a “product” rather than an actual film.
Phoenix Clouden
Banana Meter Rating: 25%
Morbius is the comic book film we had when no one cared about comic book films. Poor visuals, choppy editing, and a schlocky script leave Sony with no choic but to scrap it all and start over.
Shaurya Chawla
Banana Meter Rating: 20%
If not for a fun Matt Smith performance and some moments with Jared Leto, Morbius is a misfire on practically every level, from its shoddy CGI action sequences to its severely underwritten screenplay and choppy editing.
Josh Lempert
Banana Meter Rating: 20%
It’s really like they’re not even trying at this point. This movie is certainly mediocre but above all it just seems so lazy. Should’ve been rated R for sure. Some of the scenes were decent and I suppose the visuals could’ve looked worse. Not really a disappointment because I expected dumpster fire, but thank god this is under 2 hours.

With significant plot holes and poor editing, “Morbius” progresses from an interesting and more scary than normal Marvel-based romp (the ship scenes are probably the best and most graphic) to a film that focuses more on unimpressive CGI, needless destruction and setting up sequels – that I wouldn’t rush to see based on what’s been presented.
Matthew Fox
Banana Meter Rating: 15%
The worst Batman film ever. This dull and humorless Marvel film is meant to launch future installments, but the first is such a drag it’s time to hope the plan doesn’t come to fruition.
Ryan Cam
Banana Meter Rating: 65%
I actually liked this movie. It’s not perfect. The cgi is pretty bad. But the hate towards this movie is mostly unearned.
Josh Barton
Banana Meter Rating: 35%
Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless play it safe with a formulaic origin story that neither thrills or spills, a major shame for a character like Morbius’ live action debut. It all just feels as if Sony are in a rush to get somewhere with these films and not invested in actually telling decent stories.
Jordan Woodson
Banana Meter Rating: 40%
“Morbius” sucks all the life right out of you with how bland and dull it is. It was delayed by two years, but if you told me it was supposed to come out in 2003, I would believe you.
Jon Pascuzzi
Banana Meter Rating: 20%
Released on April Fools day, the joke is on anyone who willingly watches this trainwreck. Sony has once again fooled us all with another failed attempt to expand their own Spider-Man universe.
Dom Fisher
Banana Meter Rating: 55%
Morbius is a grim action-thriller that is full of potential but misses the mark. It’s where an exciting blood-thirsty anti-hero meets a scatterbrained origin story. Fortunately for us all, Jared Leto has found a comic book character in Morbius that is going to stick. However, it’s Matt Smith as Milo that steals the show.
