The Batman has opened and has scored the second-best opening weekend of any film released during the COVID-19 pandemic, behind Sony and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: No Way Home. The Matt Reeves-directed film has reignited moviegoers’ desire to see films presented on a big screen, particularly after a small bump in the road with the emergence of the Omicron Variant in the world. It’s particularly impressive as it’s Warner Bros’ first theatrical-only release in a year, after their plans to release their entire 2021 slate day-and-date in theatres and on HBO Max failed miserably.
