This week was a rather slow box office intake for cinemas, as a winter storm and the Omicron surge continue to tame moviegoers in going out to the movie theater. Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home continues to dominate the box office, with repeat viewers, and some who have not had the chance to see the film yet, as cinemas reopen around the world again. Its legs (no pun intended) are quite impressive, especially during COVID-19. Scream is continuing to dwindle at the box office, dropping at 40% from last week. This weekend’s new releases, Sundown and Compartment No. 6, have not even reached the top 10. Below are the 10 highest-grossing films of the weekend:
- Spider-Man: No Way Home: $11M (-21%) – 3,675 theatres
- Scream (2022): $7.36M (-40%) – 3,518 theatres
- Sing 2: $4.8M (-17%) – 3,450 theatres
- Redeeming Love: $1.85M (-48%) – 1,963 theatres
- The King’s Man: $1.75M (-2%) – 2,440 theatres
- The 355: $1.40M (-12%) – 2,513 theatres
- American Underdog: $1.23M (-4%) – 2,113 theatres
- Ghostbusters: Afterlife: $770.000 (-18%) – 1,170 theatres
- Licorice Pizza: $691.187 (-5%) – 772 theatres
